life in spain - under construction!
Padmadharini and I are in the process of renovating a little casita just outside a town called Valderrobres in the spanish mountains close to where Akasavana is, the retreat centre is around a 40min drive from here and far more remote than we are. Valderrobres is a small traditional working town, with almost as many tractors as cars. The property consists of around two acres, half of which is terraces with olive trees, the other half fields. On this land was a small building, built by 'Ramon' some 100 years ago. We don't think it was ever a house as such, probably a place store tools or to keep animals. We are in the process of renovating and extending it. The main idea for coming here was to set up a home where our living expenses would be very low, solar power, gather our own wood for the stoves, grow our own veg and try to be as self-sufficient as possible.
